Take care of your chainsaw!

As with all 2-stroke engines, it is very important to mix the fuel in the best way possible and there is only one rule to do this: Synthetic oil mixed with petrol at 2-2.5 %. In this way, the engine will perform at its best, greatly limiting residues in the combustion chamber, typical when using low-quality oils. Another important aspect is to blow the air filter and replace it if necessary.

The oils for lubricating the bar and chain are of vegetal origin for a matter of regulations and this characteristic means that the oil degrades over time and begins to lose its original characteristics. This degradation makes the oil very sticky and can cause damage to the oil pump and the entire lubrication circuit. Therefore it is important, if you use the chainsaw frequently, to use chainsaw oil while if you use it a few times a year, there is the possibility that this oil will begin to degrade, therefore we recommend using engine oil that does not degrade and therefore does not cause damage to the pump circuit. Here too it is important to use quality chainsaw oil, low quality oils further amplify the problem. Remember that good lubrication preserves the bar and replacing it does not cost less than €20/30.

A chain with sharp teeth has several advantages: in fact it allows the chainsaw to make less effort and therefore to preserve itself more over time as well as making the operator work less tired. It is also important that the bar is in good condition, a bar in poor condition tends to cut diagonally.

When the chainsaw is not in use, it is always a good idea to empty it of fuel and turn it off due to the lack of fuel. This way, when we have to restart it, we will not have problems and we will always use fresh fuel.

It is important that the fuel is as “fresh” as possible and that it does not stay in cans for months and months. This good habit must be combined with a special can for fuel (for example, those colored red or metal ones) since the classic cans (the white ones, to be clear) undergo degradation due to the corrosive action of gasoline.
