MOLD PROBLEMS
The formation of stains and mold in indoor environments is one of the most common and widespread problems in the construction sector, due to the presence of humidity.
In addition to being a cause of aesthetic degradation, it can constitute a danger at a structural and hygienic level and will damage the interior furnishings over time.
If the problem is limited and circumscribed, generally with a few small precautions and the right tips it is possible.
“CLEAN AND REMOVE MOLD CORRECTLY”
It is important to underline that when the presence of mold is discovered it is very important to find and eliminate the cause of its appearance, so that it does not reappear, otherwise it will cyclically recur.
Brichome recommends:
BOER LASER23
“An anti-mold sanitizing solution with a broad spectrum of action capable of destroying all types of mold on internal and external walls, even in the most severe contamination conditions. Particularly effective against moss and algae”
TYPICAL PHYSICAL CHEMICAL CHARACTERISTICS:
- I WAIT: transparent colorless liquid
- COMPOSITION: anti-mold based on active organic substances
TYPICAL APPLICATION CHARACTERISTICS:
- DRYING (data referred to 20°C and 65% Detected Humidity) 5-6 hours – Laser 23 does not form a film
- PRACTICAL YIELD: 6-8 m²/L per coat depending on the absorption of the support
- DILUTION: In volume 1:1 with drinking water, in particular cases the more concentrated product can be applied by adding a smaller quantity of drinking water.
- TOOLS: brush
HOW TO APPLY THE PRODUCT
Support: masonry works in general, including prefabricated ones.
Preparation of the support:
- Apply Laser 23 with a brush on the surface to be treated.
- Leave to dry for 5/6 hours.
- Remove mold by brushing thoroughly.
- Perform a second application of Laser 23 (a third application is recommended in case of particularly large blooms).
- Leave to dry for at least 24/48 hours and apply CASASANA (see prevent mold formation)
GENERAL NOTES AND WARNINGS:
- Before handling the product we recommend consulting the "SAFETY DATA SHEET".
- Shake before using.
- Do not remove mold before applying Laser 23 to avoid encouraging the dispersion of spores into the environment.
- During the application of the product we recommend the use of gloves, protective glasses and FFFP3 mask.
- There must be no food substances present in the environment.
- Do not apply the product if the surface has been treated in the previous 15-20 days with sodium hypochlorite (bleach).
- Store the product in a cool place and protect from frost.
“PREVENT THE FORMATION OF MOLD”
It is important to underline that to prevent the formation of mold it is necessary to understand what type of humidity causes mold to flourish and to understand the structural and environmental causes to which the property is subject. In other cases the appearance of mold will cyclically recur.
However, to preserve the affected walls for a long time, it is strongly advisable to use highly breathable, anti-condensation products with a high anti-mold power.
Brichome recommends BOER CASASANA And BOER KLIMA:
BOERO CASASANA
“Highly breathable wall covering for interiors, heat-insulating, anti-condensation, high anti-mould and sound-absorbing power.”
Thanks to the presence of hollow glass microspheres and particular additives, it allows to improve the comfort of the environment in which it is applied, protecting it from thermal variations and noise; while reducing the formation of condensation and mold. The glass microspheres in fact form a multiple glass-air-glass system, which creates a barrier effect. Complies with the EN 15457 standard (resistance to the growth of fungi), thanks to the presence of specific additives with a broad spectrum of action, which allow the product to prevent the formation of mould, fungi, algae and moss over time.
The product has good covering power and excellent filling power which allow it to mask small imperfections in the support.
TYPICAL PHYSICAL CHEMICAL CHARACTERISTICS:
- I WAIT: opaque
- COMPOSITION: binder based on synthetic resins in emulsion and hollow glass microspheres
- WATER VAPOR PERMEABILITY: high
TYPICAL APPLICATION CHARACTERISTICS:
- DRYING: (data referred to 20°C and 65% Detected Humidity) for recoating: 6 hours
- PRACTICAL YIELD: approximately 4 m²/L per coat depending on the support and application methods. The heat-insulating and sound-absorbing power varies depending on the thickness applied.
- DILUTION: brush: 15-25% 1st and 2nd coat; roller: 10-20% 1st and 2nd coat (smooth finish) with drinking water
- TOOLS: brush, roller
HOW TO APPLY THE PRODUCT
SUPPORT: civil plaster, plasterboard, fiber cement, plastered walls, wallpaper, wood, suitably prepared.
SUBSTRATE PREPARATION:
- The support must be healthy, dry, clean and consistent, free from moisture stains, traces of dirt, grease, etc.
- Old inconsistent or flaking paint must be removed by brushing or sanding the surface.
- Imperfections, cracks, flaking, must be eliminated and filled (we recommend BOEROSTUCCO).
NEW SUPPORTS:
- BASECOAT: 1 coat (we recommend Fondo 2000)
- FINISH: 2 coats CASASANA
SUPPORTS WITH RESIDUE OF OLD WATER-BASED PAINTS (slightly chalky):
- BASECOAT: 1 coat (we recommend Fondo 2000)
- FINISH: 2 coats CASASANA
SUPPORTS WITH RESIDUE OF OLD WATER-BASED PAINTS (washable and well anchored):
- BACKGROUND: not necessary
- FINISH: 2 coats CASASANA
GENERAL NOTES AND WARNINGS:
- Before handling the product we recommend consulting the "SAFETY DATA SHEET".
- In the presence of mold or fungi on the surface to be painted, before applying Casasana, apply LASER 23.
- Store the product in a cool place and protect from frost.
- For dilution and stirring, do not use high-speed mechanical systems (whisks, etc.).
- Avoid spray application.
BOERO KLIMA
Extra matt anti-mold breathable water-based paint for interiors. Thanks to the ease of application and the particular grain size, it masks any imperfections. Complies with the EN 15457 standard (resistance to the growth of fungi), due to the use of specific additives with a broad spectrum of action, which allow the product to prevent the formation of mould, fungi, algae and moss in poorly ventilated environments over time , subject to the formation of condensation such as bathrooms, kitchens, cellars etc.
