Vine tying: how and why is it done?
Brichome was born in a very important area for the tradition of good Italian wine culture. We are in fact in the center of the Monferrato hills in the province of Asti. More precisely, the area is that of NIZZA DOCG, a recent denomination linked to particular characteristics of how "La Barbera" is produced and vinified, a typical wine of this area of which we are very proud.

Our business also deals with offering customers a wide choice of the best products, related to both vine pruning and tying. Two essential processes to prepare the grape plants to sprout again in spring and then reap the fruits to produce this very important wine.
In our area the vast majority of vines are linked to a type of training called "spurred cordon". But what is the point of tying the vine with this method?

Before tying, the pruning process takes place: the vine remains "cleaner". In fact, from the stump, the part that takes nourishment from the earth, only the spur and the fruit remain. The latter is the part that will be tied to the wire. In fact, the fruit head will be bent in a horizontal direction, parallel to the wires, so when the vine flowers, all the shoots will have the same position. The main function of tying is to standardize the production of the plant, to allow the sap to reach the entire fruit head as evenly as possible, without creating excesses at the beginning or at the end.

In detail, it is very important to fold the fruit delicately so as not to break it. But how? Holding the latter with your left hand and aligning the fruit head on the wire with your right hand. Binding machines are used precisely for this and there are different types on the market.
Our tying machine has also been tested and used professionally by customers who have wineries. They were very satisfied with the product, also considering the very competitive price! Click here and discover all the features!
