[Guide] Cold weather is coming: 5 Simple Tips
The Brichome.it guide to protecting your home, your garden and your best friends from the oncoming cold.
This weekend, announced very well in advance, winter arrives relentlessly, the real one; in fact, not everyone knows that every about 4/5 years a climatic phenomenon known as El Niño causes very harsh and snowy winters.
We at Brichome we have therefore thought of a simple list of easy measures to protect your home (and not only) from frost.
So here it is 5 tips so as not to be caught unprepared by the cold:
- Protect the garden and vegetable patch from the cold. Transfer is recommended all plants in pots in positions sheltered from the cold but sufficiently illuminated. It's possible to protect flowers and buried plants using simple mini-greenhouses, quick and practical to assemble; with the help of mini-greenhouses the plants will be protected from the cold and at the same time will be able to breathe.

Protect the plants from the incoming cold - Preserve the plumbing system. Sudden frost is the worst enemy of pipes and siphons: our advice is to protect them by adding a small quantity of antifreeze fluid (the one for cars is fine too).

Antifreeze liquid for radiators also protects pipes at risk of freezing - Avoid unnecessary waste. A significant portion of the heat generated by heating systems is dissipated by drafts: use self-adhesive draft excluders with brushes to reduce heat waste due to door thresholds. Furthermore, if our windows (windows, glass doors, etc.) are not particularly efficient, we recommend applying them additional self-adhesive seals to reduce drafts.

- Maximize the efficiency of your heating system. Inserting heat-reflecting panels behind the radiators reduces the amount of heat transmitted to the outside which is reflected towards the internal environment, significantly improving perceived comfort.
